Decoding the Brain: Insights into Neuropsychiatric Disorders
On April 10, Dr. Daniel Geschwind was recognized as the 2024 Distinguished Clinical Research Scholar and Educator in Research (DCRSER). Dr. Geschwind is a pioneer neuroscientist recognized by his groundbreaking work in autism, genetics and functional genomics. He currently serves as the Gordon and Virginia MacDonald Distinguished Professor of Human Genetics, Neurology and Psychiatry at UCLA.
In his capacity as Senior Associate Dean and Associate Vice Chancellor of Precision Health, he leads the Institute for Precision Health (IPH) at UCLA, where he oversees campus precision health initiatives. His lab developed the application of systems biology methods in neurologic and psychiatric disease, with a focus on autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and neurodegenerative conditions.
As the 2024 NIH Clinical Center's DCRSER honoree, Daniel Geschwind gave a "Great Teachers Lecture," a special session of the weekly Clinical Center Grand Rounds program.
The Great Teachers Lecture Series invites nationally recognized investigators and educators to share their expertise on topics while informing and inspiring principal investigators, staff clinicians, clinical researchers and research trainees. Geschwind’s presentation was entitled, "Genetics and Genomics of Neuropsychiatric Disorders."
